My previous books
My first book was about the decision-making process in the SS, and along the way it turned into a sharp critique of Hannah Arendt’s thesis about the banality of evil (there was no such thing). Hitler’s Bureaucrats: The Nazi Security Police and the Banality of Evil (Continuum Collection). The book was published also in Hebrew, German and Italian.
I wrote my second book, Right to Exist: A Moral Defense of Israel’s Wars in 2002, during the height of the 2nd Intifada. Having spent decades in the Israeli peace camp, I had to admit we’d obviously been wrong about some things, and this book is the story of Zionism and its wars as I found it to be when I re-examined my positions. This one was published also in German.
